With their mapping and navigation systems in a variety of series, including the popular Nuvi, StreetPilot, and Zumo, you can travel anywhere you need to without the fear of ever getting lost. Sound enticing? Keep reading!

About the Company

Garmin auto GPS systems have been offered for a number of years, along with a wide variety of other mapping, navigation, tracking and radio solutions. In the vehicle sector alone, you can find almost 40 different units to choose from. The reason that they put so much time and effort into creating multiple devices is because they understand that customers have different needs and therefore need variety. This variety, along with their precise and accurate communication with the orbiting satellites makes their products reliable and reputable among reviewers. So it is not uncommon to find one of their products on a Top 10 list from an experienced reviewer. You are guaranteed to find at least one device from the list to be able to help you get your goals accomplished. So now let’s look at some models in the three auto series to see which might best suit your needs.

The Series

Garmin auto GPS systems come in a variety of series and models, several of which we will cover in this article. Be sure to carefully analyze the different purposes of these series and models as they will help you more closely define what you want and need in your own vehicle mapping, or navigation system.

Nuvi Series

The Nuvi Series is possibly the most popular series, not just among Garmin auto GPS systems, but among all navigation systems offered on the market. One reason this is the case is because they offer over 30 options to choose from. Now all of the units under this series are not made available in the United States, but definitely two-thirds are. You can choose from a number of screen sizes ranging from 3.5 to 4.3 inches. And they offer a large variety of features.

Let’s started with the Nuvi 200. This is the least expensive of all of the Nuvi devices they offer costing around $213 (however, you can find even cheaper prices if you venture away from their website). For the price, you get preloaded City Navigator street maps, tons of POIs, and extras like picture viewing, a currency and measurement converter, and even a world time clock. Not bad for the price. However, if you want a lot more features then you’ll want to look at the Nuvi 660 – probably the single most popular device on the market right now. It comes with a larger screen, and adds hands-free Bluetooth calling, an FM transmitter, traffic alerts, POI 1-touch dialing, an audio book and MP3 player, language translation, anti-theft services, and travel guides – a lot more bang for a little more buck.

StreetPilot c-Series

This Garmin auto GPS series comes with significantly fewer models, but is still a must have for many consumers. The models they currently make available are the c330, c550 and c580. The c330 is definitely the least expensive of the three due to fewer features, some of which include preloaded 2D and 3D street maps, preloaded and customizable POIs, and an SD card slot. If you jump up to the c550, you can enjoy a little more like Bluetooth calling, a traffic receiver, and an anti-theft feature. Then the c580 adds even more like an MP3 player and MSN Direct.

Zumo

The Zumo series, while in the auto section, is actually meant for motorcycles. There are four models to choose from, including the 400, 450, 500, and 550. All of the models have the commonality of being rugged, durable, and water resistant to be able to handle the outdoors. And they all come with preloaded maps and traffic alerts. But it is important to know that only the 450 and 550 are meant for usage in the United States.

Now that we’ve looked at the three Garmin auto GPS series, have you learned enough, or do you need more? If you need more, it only means that one of the models mentioned has tickled your fancy. So get out there and learn as much as you can before you spend one pretty penny. That way, you’ll be able to enjoy your device knowing you got every feature you wanted from your Garmin auto GPS system.
