Discount Garmin GPS systems are here

Discount Garmin GPS

Many people wants to buy a Garmin GPS system.  But not everyone can afford the prices for the latest models.   These people may want to consider buying a discount Garmin GPS system.

The first reason that this could be appealing is the price savings. Discounted systems usually sell a lot cheaper than the full price ones do.  These systems can be bought by everyday people for their sporting needs such as hunting or jogging or their everyday navigational car needs.  These systems are also bought by companies such as aviation companies or fleet companies who hires drivers to deliver their products.

Of course, you probably know that the Garmin GPS systems are considered the best systems by many people.  Two reasons why people consider them the best is their wide screens and their easy to follow turn by turn directions.  Yet, Garmin GPS systems have many more well known and liked features such as:

Many styles offer the plug in and go feature (you give the unit an address and the system will quickly retrieve it along with vital information about it)
The portable units offer wide easy to read screens
The portable units are light in weight and perfect in size for carrying or clipping onto your belt.
They have wearable watch GPS systems which tells perfect time and still has an easy to read screen for mapping purposes.
The dash mountable systems have great extras such as blue tooth capabilities, mp3 player and audio book players.

HOW DO YOU FIND DISCOUNTED GARMIN GPS SYSTEMS?

No, the Garmin online site does not sell their GPS systems at discounted price.  But it does offer links to other online stores that sell them at list prices as well as regular retail stores (one may even be located in your area).  When searching for information on the Garmin website, for retail stores in your area all you have to do is go to www.garmin.com, select which country you live and the type of system you are searching.  Then a list will appear showing stores by address, phone number, email address and a link to their web site (if they have one).

Another way to find discounted Garmin GPS systems is at online auction sites such as EBAY.COM and AMAZON.COM.

You may even be able to find some discounted or sale priced systems at local retail stores.  You could look in your ocal electronic store flyers for these specials.

Some websites offer sales occasionally, too, even for Garmin products.  The official Garmin site occasionally will offer these.  You should check regularly and sign up for in store newsletters that may promote any of these types of sales.  You should also watch for coupon specials.  These are usually done online by entering a special promotional code at checkout time. These codes are sometimes sent to special customers who signs up for newsletters, who have purchased X amount of products in the past or who is buying X amount of products during checkout.   In regular retail stores these are usually found in their flyers.

You can also go to some comparison websites in hopes to find deals on discounted or refurbished Garmin GPS system.   Sites like Froggle.com, BizRate, and Pricegrabber will allow you to enter what type of merchandise you are searching and some search criteria such as the lowest price.  Sometimes these types of sites can be useful, sometimes not.  Sometimes you won’t get the search results for the merchandise you want and sometimes you will get full retail price results instead of discounted.  For this reason, be sure to pay attention to the prices.

WHAT ABOUT REFURBISHED GARMIN GPS SYSTEMS?

Yes, this is another way to buy a discounted Garmin GPS system.  Refurbished means that they discounted models or used models that have been updated.  These models usually will come with a limited warranty.   Yet, they generally are reliable products.

You can find refurbished Garmin products at their official websites, on other electronic websites, at online auction sites and possibly at your local retail stores.

Do you realize that you might be able to save hundreds of dollars by buying a discounted Garmin GPS unit?  This unit will more than likely meet all your needs (if you are a savvy shopper and ask yourself the right questions about your needs before purchasing) and will work just as good as the full price model.  Aren’t these reasons enough for you to investigate the idea of shopping for a discount Garmin GPS unit before splurging on a full priced one?

Benefits of using GPS systems for fleet management

GPS systems for fleet management

Do you own your own fleet or trucking company?  Do you hire employees to haul materials or products to your customers?  Do you sometimes worry about whether your employees are driving as well as they should or driving on the course as you instructed?  Do you realize that a GPS system is a great way for you to manage all of your fleet vehicles and the employees that drive them?

Many fleet companies are using GPS systems.  They recognized the benefits they can get from using these valuable pieces of technology.  They realize that the most important aspect of their job is to get the products and supplies that their customers’ needs to the proper destination at the quickest and safest way possible.  They also realize that their employees are human.  Mistakes happen.  But if these mistakes continue on a regular basis, they need to know and they need to deal with them.  A GPS system will allow them to do this.

For those of you who are not familiar with GPS systems, their basic principles and their basic functions are fairly easy to understand.  GPS systems stand for Global System Positioning.  This system is made up of orbiting satellites and computers.  Together, they work to help pinpoint exact addresses and by using tracking devices exact people or objects.  This information can be transmitted to a central location such as a computer with internet access, cellular radio or satellite modem.  This information is also transmitted at regular set intervals.

The Department of Defense was the first ones to use GPS systems.  They used them in military operations.  Now normal consumers and normal businesses can use them to help keep make their lives less complicated and to help track their own belongings, such as trucks and other types of vehicles.

How can a GPS system benefit a fleet company in general?

You are actually able to track your employee’s comings and goings.  At first, this may sound a little intrusive.  But remember your employees are working for you to get your products and materials to your customers in a timely manner.  To be successful, your employees must do their jobs successful.  A GPS system can help you be successful by monitoring such things as:

Employees driving speeds
The amount of time employees spends at each destination
The amount of time it takes to get from point A to point B
If the intended route is being taken or if detours are being made
If the vehicle or vehicles are being used on off hours

By carefully monitoring activities such as listed in the above list you can save additional money by:

Lowering fuel bills (by making sure employees stay on intended routes and take the shortest routes possible)
Increase productivity (by monitoring how much time is wasted in between stops)
Reducing Overtime & Billing Errors (you have actual proof of the number of hours actual driven)
Stopping the use of unauthorized vehicle use (saves you money on wear and tear of the vehicle)

It may even help your employee moral because you are able to access:

Discovering who your best drivers are and rewarding them
Allow drivers to take vehicles home (with the understanding that they only drive them to and from, which of course you can monitor)

Adding GPS systems to your fleet vehicles may also save you money by:

Lowering your insurance costs
Help lower accident rates (because your employees will drive more carefully, knowing you are watching)
Lower maintenance rates (because the vehicles are being driven only as intended)
Accurate billing costs
Giving you an additional tax writes off

Plus, remember a GPS system will come in handy in case an emergency situation would develop with any of your drivers.  You will be able to find them and get help to them quicker.  That may prove to be the most important benefit of all for adding GPS systems to all of your fleet vehicles.
